Our Story

Made by hand. Served by family. Rooted in Colombia, at home in Hyde Park.

Las Delicias Colombianas is a family-owned Colombian restaurant at 1231 River Street, Hyde Park, Boston, opened in 2017 and owned since 2021 by Miguel and Marcela. Our kitchen serves the dishes Miguel grew up cooking in Antioquia — bandeja paisa, hand-shaped arepas, sancocho, fresh-fruit juices, and the Colombian breakfast he made for his siblings — open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a full bar that runs late Friday and Saturday and 4.5 stars across 613+ Google reviews. Whether you stop in for a quick empanada or stay for a full bandeja paisa, you'll always leave with more than a meal — you'll leave with a taste of Colombia.

Meet the owner

Miguel.

Miguel's journey — from cooking for his siblings in Colombia to running his own restaurant in Hyde Park — is a testament to his resilience, passion, and love for food.

Today, as owner of Delicias Colombianas Hyde Park, he proudly shares the flavors of his heritage with the community, one plate at a time. Every bandeja paisa on our menu is plated the way it has been plated in Antioquia for generations.

Miguel manages everything from food costs to payroll — but above all, he leads with heart. Backed by a loyal team, many of whom have been with us for years, and with the support of Marcela (his wife), he continues to grow Delicias Colombianas into more than just a restaurant. It's a neighborhood staple, a family operation, and a living tribute to Colombian culture.

How we got here

From 2017 to today.

  1. 2017

    The restaurant opens

Miguel's uncle purchases a small restaurant in Hyde Park. Miguel agrees to manage it, balancing the role with his job at Restaurant Associates at Harvard Business School. A partnership built on trust.

  2. 2020

    Stepping up through COVID

As the pandemic hits, Miguel keeps the kitchen open, the staff supported, and the spirit of the restaurant alive — when so many others closed.

  3. 2021

    Miguel becomes owner

In January, Miguel's uncle offers him full ownership. Miguel takes over with his wife Marcela at his side.

  4. Today

    A neighborhood staple

Delicias Colombianas is now a family operation — loyal team, hundreds of private events hosted, a full liquor license, and the Colombian flavors Miguel grew up cooking for his siblings.

Hecho a mano

How we cook.

Our arepas are shaped by hand. Our sancocho de res simmers for hours with yuca, corn, and potato. Our jugos naturales are blended fresh from whole fruit — guava, lulo, mango, passionfruit — never from a carton.

We've been part of the Hyde Park community since we opened our doors. We've hosted hundreds of birthdays, quinceañeras, baby showers, and full venue buyouts. We've fed regulars who became friends, and friends who became regulars.

Whatever brings you in — a quick lunch, a late-night Friday with the band, a quinceañera you'll remember forever — we cook for you the same way we cook for our own table.

Colombian specialties — paella, grilled fish, and seafood pastas

Full liquor license

The bar runs late.

From classic cocktails and Colombian favorites like aguardiente to a curated selection of wines and beers — our bar brings a vibrant new energy to the restaurant. Friday and Saturday we stay open until 1 AM with live Latin music.

The best Colombian restaurant in Boston. The bandeja paisa is exactly like my grandmother made it — generous portions and full of flavor. The staff treats you like family.

Very clean, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was polite and helpful even when it was busy. The owner checks on customers personally — you can tell they care.

Authentic Colombian food at a great price. The sancocho and the chicharrón are standouts. Free parking, easy to find, and the portions feed two people easily.

We hosted my daughter's quinceañera here and it was perfect. The team handled everything beautifully, the food was incredible, and our guests are still talking about it.
